Caloriferi all'asta: ecco come è andata!

L'altro ieri si è chiusa l'asta per il concerto dei Calorifer Is Very Hot!. E' stato emozionante: l'esperimento di marketing (alla fine si è trattato di questo) è andato a buon fine. Se ne è parlato un poco in giro e ne abbiamo parlato anche noi.
Beh, poi, che altro: ieri nel giro nostro di email ci dicevamo soddisfatti che probabilmente saremmo rientrati dalle spese. E poi questa mattina arriva la mail della nostra nuova amica Giovanna... da Bari! Giovanna ci è sembrata molto carica e quindi siamo molto molto contenti di annunciarvi (facendo un ctrl+V dalla mail di Giovanna): "Per ora l'unica cosa certa è che sabato 12 Dicembre i Caloriferi suonano a Bari!! ^__^ ". E poi non ci si preoccupa se le offerte non sono arrivate a un milione di dollari, è come ai mercatini vintage dove si trovano cose interessanti a pochi soldi, veri affari. Dopo le fai sistemare e improvvisamente valgono tantissimo. Siamo curiosi di sapere se alla fine Giovanna sceglierà il cd oppure il vinile...

Evolution on Stand-By

Evolution on Stand-By è il secondo album per The Calorifer is Very Hot!, scombinata band che è sempre stata capace di dare alla Grande Domanda del Pop un'impetuosa risposta Punk. Composto durante uno scassatissimo tour europeo che ha impegnato TCIVH! lo scorso inverno, registrato con Alessandro Paderno (Le Man Avec Les Lunettes) e mixato da Carl Saff a Chicago, questo disco riesce a cogliere di sorpresa lungo tutte le sue dodici canzoni.
Ma non si dica che sono gli arrangiamenti, più profondi rispetto al precedente lavoro Marzipan in Zurich (MyHoney Records, 2007), a fare di questo album il cosiddetto "disco della maturità": perché la maturità sa essere molto più sorprendente di quel che di solito si crede. E in ogni caso i Caloriferi sono già ripartiti senza pagare il conto.
Tenendo insieme l'indie rock più classico, certa leggerezza del brit-pop e una notevole quantità di imprudenza lo-fi, Evolution on Stand-By mostra un talento per le melodie così scintillante e sfacciato che i Beach Boys, i Pavement, i Fleet Foxes, i Modern Lovers, i Libertines e gli Slackers hanno fatto a botte per conquistarsi una nuova cover live del trio.
Saranno accontentati.

I can't get anything

I Can't Get Anything is one of the strangest songs on the latest Le Man Avec Les Lunettes album. I think it is because it features Francesca Amati (from the bands Amycanbe and Comaneci) on the voice, so soft and hoarse at the same time, and the music brings a sense of suspended calmness.
Now there is a new video directed by Luca Lumaca.

Alessandro Paderno from Le Man Avec Les Lunettes with Frida Vermina from the swedish band Rough Bunnies, at the final My Honey Records party in Brescia last sempteber. She was in Italy to record some new song, so they took a chance to play a short but intense live set together.
Expect a record out in the near future, obviously on WWNBB!

Eyes Attack

We Were Never Being Boring Collective è super felice di presentarvi il primo 45 giri a firma The Calorifer Is Very Hot.
Dopo il debutto con Marzipan In Zurich (MyHoney Records, 2007), la banda del calorifero ritorna con questo Eyes Attack, un sette pollici che più eclettico e sbagliato non poteva essere, tanto che un lato va a 33 giri.
Si apre con Lester, sembra un duello spaghetti western tra Morricone e i Monkees, ma in pieno sole si rincorrono soltanto pistole ad acqua. Non sparate sul pianista. All'ombra risuona uno scacciapensieri, mentre i cori si addormentano ubriachi in fondo al saloon.
L'altra faccia della medaglia è Skipping Brain, un vagabondaggio pop psichedelico che riverbera romantico e trasandato. Evaporano le voci sugli strati di synth analogici, qualcuno ha dimenticato accesa una drum machine tutta la notte, ogni cosa si dissolve all'alba.
Questo 45 giri anticipa Evolution On Stand-By, album in uscita a ottobre sempre su We Were Never Being Boring Collective, e sarà in vendita ai concerti e su questo sito.

After their debut Marzipan In Zurich (MyHoney Records, 2007), the calorifer band is back again with Eyes Attack, one of those crazy, eclectic and perfectly wrong singles... one side plays at 45 rpm, one side at 33 rpm!
It all opens up with Lester, a spaghetti western battle between Morricone and The Monkees, under the sun water pistols keep shooting at each other, someone is relaxing in the shade and old drunks are shouting weeping choruses from way back in the saloon.
The other side of the coin is Skipping Brain, a reverbed pop gem that skips on a psychedelic path while maintaining a romantic and shaggy touch. Voices crawl like vapor above a nest of vintage synths, someone must have forgotten the drum machine on all night, it'll be gone by daytime.
This single anticipates Evolution On Stand-By, TCIVH's album coming out in October on We Were Never Being Boring Collective, and you'll be able to purchase it at the band's shows and on this website.

We want music to never turn into something boring for us. It would mean that we have become boring. Because music does not die with mp3's or copyright: boredom is what brings it down, when it becomes a habit. All we need is a small do-it-yourself collective, as tiny as a simple smile.
